On January 16th, 2025, at 7:00am CST, Nintendo gave the public a first look at the successor of the Switch, the Switch 2. The Switch 2 is shown to be bigger than the original with a new design of Joy-Cons. The Joy-Cons connect differently from the original by clicking them on via the side instead of sliding from the top. They feature bigger SL and SR buttons along with brand new straps on the side. The dock now has a more curved shape on the top, showing more of the screen.

As of now, the only information of the Switch 2 we have is knowledge of a brand new Mario Kart with a new art style to boot, and that the Switch 2 will be compatible with the majority of physical and digital Switch titles.
While we do not know what will be the exception, they did show on their site games like Super Mario Wonder, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Luigiās Mansion 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons as games that will be playable.
More information will come on April 2nd, 2025 via a Nintendo Direct. During the month of April, Nintendo has also announced they will have hands-on event for people to try out the Switch 2.
